Changes in your life can affect your eligibility for health and insurance benefits.

Overview

Depending on your situation, you may be able to change your benefit choices outside of the annual enrolment period.

To make benefit coverage changes mid-year, the life event must be a β€œqualified change in status.” Usually you must make the benefit changes within 30 days after the life event occurs.

Common Life Events

    • If you have a baby or adopt a child, you can add them to your medical and/or dental coverage within 30 days. If you would like the Benefits Department to do this for you, please email BenefitsServices@fi.com and include the baby’s full name, gender, nationality and date of birth.

    This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, such as adding a new child to your family, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit Workday to adjust your benefits coverage and click Menu > Benefits and Pay > Change Benefits > Birth/Adoption and follow the steps all the way through. If you have questions, email the Benefits Department at BenefitsServices@fi.com.

    • You can add a new legal spouse to your medical and/or dental coverage within 30 days. You must add a copy of your Marriage Certificate or Civil Partnership Certificate to Workday after you have added your spouse/civil partner onto the plan.

    This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit Workday to adjust your benefits coverage. To do so click Menu > Benefits and Pay > Change Benefits > Marriage/Domestic Partnership and follow the steps all the way through. If you have questions, email the Benefits Department at BenefitsServices@fi.com.

    • In the event of a divorce or legal separation, you can remove a spouse or civil partner from your medical and/or dental coverage within 30 days.

    This is a qualified life event. When you experience a qualifying life event, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit Workday to adjust your benefits coverage. To do so click Menu > Benefits and Pay > Change Benefits > Divorce and follow the steps all the way through. If you have questions, email the Benefits Department at BenefitsServices@fi.com.

    • If you wish to remove yourself or your dependants from the medical and/or dental plans, you may do so during our annual Open Enrolment period in March.
    • If you move to a new location and your current healthcare coverage is no longer available, you can enrol into your new healthcare plan(s) via Workday within 30 days of your transfer date. If you have any questions, email the Benefits Department at BenefitsServices@fi.com.
    • Utilise Headspace to take advantage of this work/life resource and referral service. Some examples include child care referrals, consumer research, educational materials and up to six counselling sessions per issue per year.
    • Make sure to keep your address, home/mobile phone and emergency contact information updated in Workday. Once your address has been updated in the HR & Payroll systems, all benefit plan carriers will be notified of the change. However, you will need to update your address on your pension account portal.

    This may be a qualified life event if you are relocating to another office where different medical plans are available. When you experience a qualifying life event, you have 30 days to make benefits changes related to your event. Visit Workday to adjust your benefits coverage. To do so click Menu > Benefits and Pay > Change Benefits and follow the steps all the way through.


Have you moved or changed your number? Make sure to keep your address, home/mobile phone and emergency contact information updated in Workday. Once your address has been updated in the HR & Payroll systems, all benefit plan carriers will be notified of the change. However, you will need to update your address on your pension account portal.
